There is no small number of INFJs who love art / aesthetics and aspire to be artists of some sort. But in many respects the artist role seems diametrically opposed to that of the counselor. My approach to painting is to maintain spontaneity. There is life in movement, death in stagnation. And I approach every painting with the idea that I want that painting to continuously move—whether it’s your eyes around the painting or the emotions you have with the painting.

Painting Preparation. To create a painting, many artists begin with preliminary drawings or sketches. This step allows them to work out composition, or how elements will be organized in the painting. Sketches can also help determine how large the painting might be.

What do you want people to feel when they look at paintings?

When other people look at my paintings, I want them to feel part of the story, part of the creative process, something new. Not like they’re taking home something finished. They just began. When I’m painting a mural, it’s exactly like I’m painting a canvas.
