How do you determine your race line?
Finding the perfect racing line is always a weighing between high speed in the corner itself or the exit of the corner. There are several other aspects that will help you to find the perfect line. Always use as much space of the track as possible. The tighter a corner, the slower you have to go.
How many lines are there in a racing track?
The Track comprises 2 semicircles, each with a radius of 36.50m, which are joined by two straights, each 84.39m in length. The Track has 8, 6 or occasionally 4 lanes but the last is not used for international running competition. All lanes have a width of 1.22m ± 0.01m.
Do race car drivers memorize the track?
Fitness is key, but it’s no good without knowing the quickest way around a track. Drivers memorize each circuit, and it’s more than remembering “left, left, right,” and so on. They know exactly what gear they should be in at any given point, where to brake, where to slam the accelerator.
What is the racing line in F1?
In motorsport, the racing line is the optimal path around a race course. In most cases, the line makes use of the entire width of the track to lengthen the radius of a turn: entering at the outside edge, touching the “apex”—a point on the inside edge—then exiting the turn by returning outside.
Can anyone drive on a track?
You will, however, be under the watchful eyes of track officials who will pull you off the circuit if you drive like a maniac, endanger other drivers, or simply break the track rules.
Should you accelerate while turning?
You should always avoid heavy braking or accelerating while turning as this can cause your car to become unstable. Only lightly apply the brake or accelerator while on the turn.
How do you break into a turn race?
First use a light pressure to settle the car, compress the front springs and increase the front grip, next a progressive increase to maximum braking force, then feather the pressure off before entry to the corner. Maintain subtle brake force into the bend if trail braking is needed.
