I can’t speak for students from other programs, but as an engineering student, I can tell you that attending Waterloo is one of the most difficult but rewarding experience you will have. Personally, the first term was the hardest to stomach.

What is it like to live in Waterloo?

Waterloo is a smaller city, only about 200,000 people. I have lived there for a year and there is a strong Chinese and middle eastern minority living in the city, but the city has a mainly German background. There is a wide variety of food available.

Is Laurier University better than Waterloo University?

Waterloo gets the rep of the nerdy kids, while Laurier is the party school. The symbiosis of the two schools is actually what makes the Waterloo region so damn successful, and you are going to be right on the cusp of that.

Is Waterloo University a party animal school?

However Waterloo students aren’t party animals. It’s usually people from Laurier. I’m a girl in Math faculty and all my opinions above can be biased. I’m a transfer from a small liberal arts college in the States and those are just my general opinions of Waterloo University in comparison to my old school.
