What to do after crashing a drone?
If you crash your drone in the forest, the woods or not on your property, you should retrieve it ASAP. It is a fire hazard. So get out there and fly and have a great time! Just remember that as drone pilots it’s important we always take responsibility for our actions accidents and the environment in which we fly.
Is it normal to crash your drone?
For some people, for example, a crash can happen once every 3 years or even 5 years. Inexperienced pilots may crash their drones much more frequently than this. Some of these drones, especially the cheaply priced ones, will crash more often than the rest, which usually has to do with the quality of the drone itself.
Can a crashed drone be repaired?
If you’re not covered by any kind of care policy and the damage to your drone isn’t under the warranty, you will have to pay to have it repaired. Your best bet is to look for an authorized repair centre. Even if your crash has resulted in minimal damage, it’s a good idea to get your drone checked out.
Will DJI replace a crashed drone?
If you believe the fault behind your drone was not caused by pilot error, you may be able to submit a warranty claim with DJI to get your drone replaced. There are no guarantees whether the accident will be covered under warranty as they will be accessing the flight logs to determine the cause of the crash.

What happens if a drone crashes?
If you are Part 107 pilot flying a drone, you must be aware that your bird can cause significant damage to person and property in the event of a crash. Because drones are classified as aircraft, a drone crash needs to be investigated by the NTSB.
How do you find out where your drone crashed?
If your drone uses one of those previously mentioned proprietary apps, use the map and compass to try to approximate where your drone crashed. In my last crash, this was super helpful, as my drone landed in a densely wooded area. My line of sight approximation wasn’t helpful, but the map was spot on.
