You’ll learn everything from ship nomenclature (names) to first-aid techniques to semaphore (signaling with flags). Classroom studies will focus on customs and courtesies, laws of armed conflict, money management, shipboard communication, Navy ship and aircraft identification, and basic seamanship.
After Navy boot-camp graduation, sailors will not be given leave and are required to travel to their next training location, A School. There are many locations for Navy A School, and not all sailors will go to the same school.
What do you need to bring to Navy boot camp?
Here is a list of stuff you can bring to Navy boot camp: One pair of prescription glasses (most recent pair) and reading glasses. You will not be allowed to wear contact lenses during recruit training. Money – recommended, $10 – maximum of $50 (you won’t need more than that)
Do Navy recruits have leave after boot camp?
Navy boot camp is the rigorous eight-week training program that you go through to become a new sailor. The conclusion of training is a graduation celebration with other trainees and close family. The Navy Boot Camp Confidence Course is designed to simulate obstacles one may have to encounter during a shipboard emergency. Recruits don OBAs (Oxygen Breathing Apparatus, standard equipment for shipboard fire-fighting) carry sandbags, toss life rings, and climb through a scuttle (a small circular door) with full seabags.
