Can developed film be reused?
Sony announced today that it has developed a new rewritable film material. Just as rewritable optical discs can be erased and written to again, Sony’s new film can have full-color photos drawn onto them, be erased, and then be reused for another photo.
Can you reuse a blank film roll?
Yes, you can do it if you spare a free frames. There is a chance that the film will be completely rewound so I just wait until I finish the roll. Then again a have one 35mm camera for color and one for black & white. This is not a problem for medium format cameras with interchangeable backs.
What happens if you open a roll of film?
If it’s left open for longer time just throw the film away. Film is opaque. The film that is wound onto the take-up spool will probably be fine. The film still in the cassette will be fine.
How do you reuse film developers?
Developer is cheap; use it once, maybe twice, then drop it in a slop bucket. Maybe you can boost the pH and use it for paper developer if you are really hot about reusing. Overall, it’s a good way to lose a day’s worth of shots in a few minutes. Use fresh when you can.
Can you save exposed film?
You can keep exposed, unprocessed film in a refrigerator for a few days when necessary. Put the film in a sealed container, and allow the unopened container to reach room temperature before removing the film for processing.”
Is film ruined if exposed to light?
Film can be nearly impossible to blow out. If too much light hits film, an image will still be produced on a negative. An overexposed negative, even 3 to 4 stops over, can then be corrected in scanning or printing. Film captures images with a photochemical reaction in the emulsion when exposed to light.
How many times can you reuse film developer?

Can you reuse film stop?
Stop baths can be reused repeatedly until they lose their acidity. Some incorporate indicators that change color when this happens: typically, they go from yellow to purple. Otherwise you can use litmus paper or simply replace the stop bath frequently enough that it is unlikely to exhaust.

Can you open the film canister to change the bag?
At no point until the film is wound on to the reel and then placed into the tank and the tank firmly closed can you open the changing bag. Take the developing tank lid off and the reel out before applying your bottle opener to the top or bottom of your film canister.
How long does it take to get my film back?
Most film developing orders are shipped back to you within 3-7 business days after they enter production. We are located in Southern California, so mail takes 2-5 days to reach us from almost anywhere in the country. Occasionally production times run a bit longer, especially before or after holidays.
