According to a recent study by the NPD group, 73\% of Americans over the age of 2 play video games of some kind. They are popular for a reason. They are a lot of fun, and fun is not a waste of time. The vast majority of people who play video games lead healthy, productive lives.
When should you give up on video games?
Here’s a brief list of the lessons I’ve learned when debating on whether to give up on a video game:
- 1) Play how you want to play.
- 2) If a game is stressing you out, lower the difficulty.
- 3) Some distance can be just what you need.
- 4) That game will always be there to come back to.
- 5) Don’t get swept up in the hype.

Good-quality video games offer lots of benefits to children and teens. increase children’s self-confidence and self-esteem as they master games. provide points of common interest and opportunities for socialization. develop skills in reading, math, technology and problem-solving.

Games are a fundamental way that humans interact and learn. They provide so many benefits for people of all interests and abilities. Children especially love playing games and these activities provide such a great opportunity for them to practice so many skills. And you do not have to let the child win!

Arguably, such experiences make life worth living. The case that Joe Rogan and many others often make about video games is that they are too much fun. Thus, people end up spending inordinate amounts of time playing them at the exclusion of other, more “productive,” or perhaps edifying, activities.
Is it possible for a man to be addicted to gaming?
There are simply much better ways for a man to spend his days; especially when literal days’ worth of time was being devoted to a single video game. I would go back and forth with this addiction depending on how much free time I had, but basically my default hobby when I had time to kill was gaming.
