Is it possible to drop heavy armor on a tank?
No. A main battle tank weighs 60–70 tons. The max weight that can practically be dropped is in the region of 10–15 tons. The other problem with heavy armour is that it needs a massive supply chain. If you somehow dropped an M1 you’d need to drop a column of fuel tankers, ammo supply vehicles & infantry with it.
