Why do planes look still in the air?
Basically it’s the headwind. When the headwind is huge enough to create a lift but also greater or equal to the speed of the aircraft, it will look like it is standing still.
Can a plane stop in mid air?
No. Airflow over the wings is needed to generate lift. When the plane flies too slow or even “stops” midair there will be no lift and the plane falls out of the sky. This is called a stall and can be very dangerous, as no airflow goes over the control surfaces, making the plane practically out of control.
What is a helicopter pilot’s responsibility when cleared to air taxi on the airport?
Air‐taxi authorizes the pilot to proceed above the surface either via hover‐taxi or flight at speeds more than 20 knots. Unless otherwise requested or instructed, the pilot is expected to remain below 100 feet AGL. The pilot is solely responsible for selecting a safe airspeed for the altitude/operation being conducted.

Why are airplane wrecks so hard to get to?
Not all airplane wrecks are hard to get to because they are in some far-flung wilderness spot. A great number of planes can be found beneath the waves of the ocean, often attracting scuba divers.
What happens to old planes after they are scrapped?
In Europe, where space is at a premium and there is nowhere to store aircraft outside in a stable, weather-proof environment, planes tend to be recycled and broken up far more quickly. After all the valuable components have been removed whatever remains will be chopped into pieces and sold for scrap.
