How do you keep thick music books open?
My favorite method is to use clothespins to clip the edges of the book to a music stand. If the dimensions of either the book or the stand don’t allow that, I use the clothespins to clip a ruler or a similarly sized piece of wood to the front of the book to keep it open.
How do I keep my sheet music from falling?
I usually do 1 of 4 things:
- Use a 3-ring binder like Bruce.
- Use a small hardcover book like thepianoplayer416.
- Bend the sheets backward in the middle enough so they don’t fall in front of me while playing but not so much that there’s a giant fold mark in the page.
- Just buy a book (I do this whenever I can)
How do you hold sheet music in place?
Clear Plastic: A pair of translucent plastic clips are hardly heirlooms, but they are extremely practical for loose sheets. The see-through material is intended to not obstruct your view of your music while you play, while strong plastic keeps your pages securely in place.
Where do you store piano sheet music?
Like any book, sheet music should be stored and filed usually in a cabinet. I would recommend putting all sheet music in an organized fashion vertically unless you are going to use the music. In that case, stack it up on a piano or a table.
What are the parts of a piano?
Anatomy of a Piano
- The Keyboard. The most obvious part of a piano is the keyboard.
- Housing/Case and Lid. This is the largest component of a piano.
- Hammers and Strings. These parts are the meat-and-potatoes of the instrument.
- Pedals. Pedals usually come in sets of two or three, depending on the style of piano.

How can I protect my sheet music?
Remove paper clips, rubber bands and other foreign objects. Repair tears and reinforce the fold with reversible heat-set tissue or Japanese paper and wheat paste. Binders provide protection for sheet music; binders with pockets will help to keep the parts together.
