How early should you arrive for a tattoo appointment?
Show up to your appointment 10 minutes early. Don’t forget to bring cash for tips! Fill out any paperwork and, if needed, finalize any details of your design. Your artist will take you to their station.
What should I bring to a tattoo appointment?
What to Wear and Bring to Your Tattoo Session
- Wear comfortable clothing that offers easy access to the body part getting the tattoo.
- Take an extra pair of clean socks to wear. Make sure they’re washed and not full of holes.
- Have an extra jacket or sweater for when you start to feel the cold.
What should I do 24 hours before a tattoo?
24 hours before your appointment you should be drinking a lot of water. A good goal is to aim to drink eight 8-oz glasses of water to fully ensure that your body is in the best shape possible. Not only is it good for your health, but it will make sure that your skin is hydrated and prepared for your tattoo session.
Do you tip for tattoo consultation?
You’re not obliged to tip your tattoo artist for a consultation. You may also have to pay your tattoo deposit at the consultation if you and your artist agree to go ahead with the work. Don’t forget to save up extra cash for a tip once your artist finishes tattooing you, though.
Do tattoo artists judge you?
While there are some artists who may act high-and-mighty, smug, and judgmental about your tattoo choice, they should be few and far between. It’s not the artist’s job to understand why you want something on your body, it’s their job to execute it as you desire.
Can you get a tattoo on your period?
We work fast to keep pain to a minimum. (Please note with females, it needs to be mentioned that getting tattooed whilst on your period will make the body more receptive to pain, so take that into account whilst booking where possible). Remember, most tattooed people rarely only have one tattoo!
What should you not say to a tattoo artist?
Here are some things you should never say in a tattoo shop:
- I Let My Dog Sleep In My Bed With Me.
- How Much For A Sleeve?
- Can You Draw Something, And If I Like It, I Book An Appointment?
- I Am Just 17, But My Parents Approve.
- Can You Hurry Up, Please?
- I Had A Few Beers To Man Up.
How many touch ups does a tattoo need?
While one touch up is par for the course, there are many ways you can be proactive in keeping your ink in its best condition. Remember that a touch up 6 months after getting your tattoo done will help, but it’s also important to keep your skin moisturized and protected from the sun and water.
