How long does Marinol stay in your system?
The synthetic THC in Marinol is absorbed by your body similarly to the THC naturally occurring in marijuana. It is also stored, broken down, and excreted the same. Marinol is broken down and excreted in the urine for two days to 5 weeks. During this time period, it will be detected in urine drug screens.

Boric acid keeps urinary pH below 7, prevents dissolution of pus cells (29) and is associated with false negative strip test results (e.g. protein, white blood cells and ketones).
How long does it take Marinol to work?
After oral administration, dronabinol has an onset of action of approximately 0.5 to 1 hours and peak effect at 2 to 4 hours. Duration of action for psychoactive effects is 4 to 6 hours, but the appetite stimulant effect of dronabinol may continue for 24 hours or longer after administration.
Can Marinol be used for pain?
Marinol (dronabinol) has been studied for post-surgical pain, nerve-related pain, and chronic non-cancer pain. For the first two types of pain, Marinol was not found to be any better than placebo, with the exception of treating nerve-related pain associated with multiple sclerosis where it showed a modest benefit.

How often is Marinol taken?
MARINOL is usually taken 2 times each day, 1 hour before lunch and 1 hour before dinner. If you are elderly or unable to tolerate this dose of MARINOL, your doctor may prescribe MARINOL to be taken 1 time each day, 1 hour before dinner or bedtime to reduce your chance of having nervous system problems.
