How much does it cost to backpack the UK?
The UK is well known as being as an expensive country to visit but our UK backpacking budget of £45/day is by no means unrealistic. The biggest expense is generally accommodation which tends not to cheap. Couchsurfing is a good idea here and you can get by on much less than £45 per day if you do a lot of it.

You could spend 2 weeks just backpacking the Scottish Islands. Start by visiting the most accessible Isle of Arran, just a few hours from Glasgow. The island is laidback, and the Laggan Circuit provides excellent hiking. Next, ferry to the Isle of Skye, the most famous isle in Scotland.
