Is eat sleep Play OK?
Some experts advise an “eat, play, sleep” schedule. They hope that by using a little play to separate eating from sleeping (rather than always feeding before sleep) will help babies learn to fall asleep without a feeding–when they wake at 2 a.m. This sounds logical, but it actually goes against your baby’s biology.
When do you start eating on a sleep schedule?
…. during the early weeks after birth. While the eat play sleep schedule can be scaled to work for newborns, it’s usually not a great schedule to use in the first 4-6 weeks after birth. Very young newborn babies tend to do nothing BUT eat and sleep, so trying to insert any “play” in there usually doesn’t work well.

Once the feeding is complete, you keep your baby awake until it’s time to sleep. That could be anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on your kiddo’s age. Then when it’s time to put them down for a nap, they fall asleep in any way that does NOT involve feeding.

Waking up at the same time at night may be stress-related. What is the eat/wake/sleep cycle and why is it important?
One of the main reasons I suggest the eat/wake/sleep cycle is that it often makes sleep training a lot easier. It helps reduce the feeding to sleep that is a common sleep prop, it helps space out feeds and it helps parents evaluate and keep track of wake times so they can put their children to sleep before they are overtired.
