It can be written both, 12 AM or 0 AM. But using 12 AM is more accurate. I know it is quite confusing that 12 AM is early morning but it make sense because AM means Ante meridiem -> Before noon. To avoid confusion you can use 24 hours time format (also knows as Military time)where is not AM or PM.
