Is it worth putting fans on both sides of a radiator?

Is it worth putting fans on both sides of a radiator?

A push/pull setup is sometimes the best way to go. Using fans on both sides of the radiator is fine but if your radiator is cooling as well as it possibly can with fans on only one side, doubling your fan count is only going to cost more money and make the whole setup louder.

Which side of the radiator should fans be on?

engine side
a “push” fan. Mounted on the engine side of the radiator, a pull fan does not interfere with airflow at highway speeds. All shrouded fans should be on the engine side of the radiator.

Can you put fans in front of radiator?

there are no rules. if you had a massive air cooler instead of the rad, the top and rear fans would be ideal as exhaust. they would draw in air from the bottom get hot and exhaust in the rear/top.

Can you stack case fans?

Fan stacking can work, but only under certain conditions; if these conditions are not present, fan stacking can actually result in worse performance. Unless the second fan can take the air in undisturbed at that angle, all you do is create a lot of turbulence and noise, with little or no performance boost.

Which way should a fan be placed?

When mounting case fans, air flows across the open side towards the side with the protective grille, like so: So the open side of the fan should face outside the case for intake fans on the front or the bottom, and it should face inside the case for fans on the rear or top.

Which way is intake fan?

Look at the fan blades Blades curving away from you? That’s the intake side. If the fan blades look rounded—that is, they’re curving away from you—that’s the intake side. (For the more technical out there: The convex side of the fan blades is the intake side.)

What happens when you put two fans in front of each other?

Stacking fans will not increase performance. It will not increase the speed of air pushed through, in fact it may lower it, just because the front fan may disrupt the airflow.

How do you cool a room with two fans?

Place one fan facing out of a window in the room you want the coolest. Then, use a second fan to create a strong airflow toward the first fan. Do this by placing the second fan facing inward, either in front of a second window or pushing air into the room you’re trying to cool.

Where do you put exhaust and intake fans?

A solid fan configuration would include intake fans on the bottom, and exhaust fans on top, as shown in the image above. Fresh air will enter the case, cooling your components. Hot air generated by your hardware rises and will leave through the top exhaust fans.

Does stacking two fans increase airflow?

Putting two fans together does not increase the maximum airflow of the fans. So if you have a fan that pushes 50cfm in a theoretical, no resistance situation, putting two of them together will still only push 50cfm.
