Should I take regular physics before AP Physics?

Should I take regular physics before AP Physics?

Taking physics before taking AP physics definitely will help you with the course material but it is not a requirement by any means. The big challenge I find with AP physics is not so much learning the physics, but rather simultaneously learning the calculus that goes along with the course.

What is the difference between regular physics and AP physics?

The AP Physics 1 exam covers much of the same material as regular/Regents. The major difference is the depth of that coverage, as evidenced in the test questions.

What is a good grade in AP Physics?

What is a good AP® Physics 1 score? Earning a 3, 4, or 5 is generally accepted as scoring well on an AP® exam. As reported by the College Board, a 3 is ‘qualified,’ a 4 ‘well qualified,’ and a 5 ‘extremely well qualified.

Can you take physics 1 and 2 at the same time?

You can just study the material on your own and then take the exam. If you pass then good 🙂 But just know, AP Physics 1 and 2 are algebra based which means colleges won’t necessarily give you credit for them. Anything is possible.

Do colleges Want AP Physics?

Many college programs only require one semester of algebra-based physics for a science requirement, and AP Physics 1 may cover that requirement. However, if you want to pursue a degree in engineering or physics, then you should expect to take at least one AP Physics C class, if not both.

Is AP Physics harder than regular physics?

What makes AP Physics harder than regular physics is the level of detail and inquiry-based investigation involved. While regular physics covers most of the same core concepts, it covers them in much less depth, covering many major topics in AP Physics 1, 2, and C in a basic way.

Do I have to take high school physics before taking AP Physics?

You shouldn’t have to take a year of high school physics before taking AP Physics. However, you should take the math needed for the version of AP Physics you plan to take.

What is AP Physics 1 all about?

Course Overview AP Physics 1 is an algebra-based, introductory college-level physics course. Students cultivate their understanding of physics through classroom study, in-class activity, and hands-on, inquiry-based laboratory work as they explore concepts like systems, fields, force interactions, change, conservation, and waves.

Should I take AP Calculus AB or AP Physics C first?

You really are better off either taking calculus before you take AP Physics C or taking a version of AP Physics C that is designed to be taken concurrently with AP Calculus AB. If you want some exposure to physics before you take AP Physics, study it during the summer before you take AP Physics in school.

How many semesters of physics do you need for a degree?

Many college degree programs require only one semester of algebra-based physics, and a high score on Physics 1 may satisfy that requirement. Closely review your needs, study the challenges ahead and select the AP physics course that is best for you.
