Candida Albicans is a normally harmless yeast infection found in the mouth, intestinal tract, and vagina. Candidiasis is an infection caused by a fungus called Candida; most commonly the Candida albicans variety.
What are the complications of candidiasis?
If left untreated, candidemia can lead to metastatic foci of infection in the eyes, vertebral column, liver, spleen, CNS, and kidneys. Initiate prompt treatment to prevent foci of infection, abscess formation, and death.
Can a yeast infection cause a lesion?
Yes, you can get yeast infection sores, but they’re not common in most yeast infections. Sores or blisters usually form from other skin conditions, such as a rash, that stem from the yeast infection.
What does candidal intertrigo look like?
Candidal intertrigo classically presents as erythematous and macerated plaques with peripheral scaling. There are often associated superficial satellite papules or pustules [2,5,6].
