What is Atas scheme in railway?
The Vikalp scheme, also known as alternate train accommodation scheme (ATAS), was launched in 2015 to make sure available berths are optimally used. It enables waitlisted passengers of any train to choose confirmed berth in other trains.
What is Alt train?
The Alternate Train Accommodation Scheme (ATAS) is presently being launched under the name “Vikalp” on pilot basis only for the tickets booked through internet (E-ticket) on two sectors i.e. Delhi-Jammu and Delhi-Lucknow sectors. Based on the feedback it will be extended on PRS as well as on other sectors.
What if vikalp ticket is not confirmed?
According to the Vikalp scheme, wait-listed passengers can now book a seat in an alternate train if their booking status does not get confirmed. Once a passenger’s ticket is confirmed in an alternate train, cancellation charges will be applicable as per the train/berth status in the alternate train.
What is Atas opted?
Under this scheme, waiting list passengers will give choice to opt for ATAS scheme. ATAS opted passengers who remain fully waitlisted after charting will only be considered for allotment in the alternate train. Fully WL passengers opted for ATAS should check PNR status after charting.
What is the meaning of NA in train ticket?
N.A simply means NOT AVAILABLE in Tatkal booking. It means that all seats have been allotted/booking quota is over.
What is alternative in train booking?
Under the IRCTC Vikalp scheme, the transfer to an alternative train – opted by the user – can be for a departure between 30 minutes and 72 hours from the scheduled departure of the original train, according to the Railways arm.
What is GNWL and WL?
These are explained below in detail: Waiting List (WL): If the passenger status is marked as WL followed by a number then the passenger has a waitlisted status. Similarly, GNWL/AVAILABLE means that current status of your ticket is CONFIRMED because some passengers who booked before you have cancelled their tickets.
