What should a poem not have?
Today’s thought is: poems do not need meter and rhyme. Free verse poetry can be a feast for reader and writer alike. Students – last April, when this poem year began, I did not write much free verse at all. I love the puzzle of rhythm and rhyme, and so I relied on that cradle first in my writing.

Do poems need punctuation?

Alliteration: It is the occurrence of the same letter or sound at the beginning of adjacent or closely connected words. e.g. “where the mind is without fear”, “head is held high”, “not been broken”, “striving stretches”, “dreary desert sand of dead habit”. Symbolism: The poet uses various symbols in the poem.
