What to do when you hate your A levels?
Do the A level, even though you hate it….
- Stick with the 3 you have.
- Do a new AS but you’d have to stay back a year to complete it to A2. Might affect offers at top unis.
- Doing a whole A-level in a year (AS+A2). A big workload but would be worth it as you go university normal time.
Can sixth form kicked you out for bad grades?

Can you be expelled from sixth form?
A DfE spokesperson said: “Students enrolled in a sixth form cannot be removed because of academic ability. The law is clear on this and we expect all schools to follow it.
Can a college kick you out?

Are A-levels harder than uni?

If you don’t do reasonably well at GCSE, you may be better off sticking to a less challenging subject load in lower sixth. There are plenty of universities which will be happier with two good A-level grades than three poor ones.
Do GCSE grades matter at all?
In all honesty your GCSE don’t matter at all as long as you get 5’s in both English and maybe a 4-6 in maths. Also some course for college may have required GCSE grades per subject so that’s another reason why they kinda matter but for university level they mostly don’t matter.
Do you have to take a fourth subject at AS level?
You might be encouraged to take a fourth subject at AS if your GCSE results were very good, but the change to linear A levels has reduced the number of students who take 4 subjects in lower sixth.
