Sashes are worn from the right shoulder to the left hip. The insignia tab is worn on the left chest, over the heart. All unofficial awards go on the back of the uniform, including cookie, camp, and fun patches. If you run out of space on the front of your uniform, you may place badges and awards on the back.
How do you sew badges on a sash?
There are really only 4 resaonable ways to attach a patch to your merit badge sash:
- Sew the badge on by hand (super tough, not recommended)
- Apply an inexpensive cutout adhesive (My favorite method, I’d suggest using Badge Magic)
- Use an iron-on sheet.
- Use a hot glue gun (works best in a pinch!)

The entire Girlguiding programme has had a makeover and there are now over 800 new badges and activities for girls aged 5 to 18 to work towards.
