What’s it like to live on a military base now?
Life ‘on base’ is now mostly restricted to working. I totally support the change, but can’t help but be nostalgic for the days when the Messes were full of life and young people in the prime of their lives. I’ve lived on a few Air Force bases.

I usually get asked “how did you like being in the Air Force?” when people find out I’m retired Air Force. My usual answer is, I enjoyed 19 out of 20 years. I had a little help prior to joining, having lived on Air Force bases most my life and having a father that retired from the Air Force gave me a glimpse into what Air Force life would be like.
