Can you make an airplane out of wood?
Even today, wood persists in plenty of homebuilt designs and even a few certified aircraft in current production. Wood is light, strong and, unlike metal, it doesn’t have a “memory.” It either breaks, or it doesn’t.
Why can’t we make an Aeroplane out of wood?
When people who are not in the know hear that airplanes have wooden components, their first mental image is of a really old airplane. This is an unfair image. Why do paper airplanes fly?
Thrust is the forward movement of the plane. After this, paper airplanes are really gliders, converting altitude to forward motion. Lift comes when the air below the airplane wing is pushing up harder than the air above it is pushing down. It is this difference in pressure that enables the plane to fly.

Do wooden planes have a learning curve?
None of this is a big deal to someone who is used to these idiosyncrasies but my point is both metal and wooden planes have learning curves. My belief is that once you get past the learning curve, the wooden plane is faster, easier, and much more pleasurable to adjust.
What are the wings of an airplane made of?
